A glutton for knowledge, Merlin accepted both blessings and deceived the gods. Angered by her actions, the gods cursed Belialuin, killing all the Capitol's inhabitants but Merlin, who has an infinite life source.
Most of the time in "The Seven Deadly Sins," spells disintegrate once they run out of energy. What makes Merlin ridiculously powerful is her ability to circumvent this fact. Her inherent power, Infinity, allows her to sustain spells for a limitless amount of time.
Despite her mysterious nature, according to Escanor, Merlin is a very kind and cheerful woman. She is normally kind and polite to everyone around her, even those she does not know. Merlin is also the only person who treats Escanor as a person rather than a monster as everyone else does prior to him joining the Sins.
Meliodas is undoubtedly the most powerful member of the Seven Sins, and he was the strongest of the Ten Commandments over 3,000 years ago.

Merlin has always been obsessed with magic, and Arthur's Chaos was a new development she wasn't fully familiar with. Hence, it served as the perfect development for Merlin to fawn over. During Arthur's awakening as the "King of Chaos," Arthur's friend and pet, Cath, revealed its nature.

Meliodas is the captain of the Seven Deadly Sins and the strongest fighter in the group. He was originally the leader of the Ten Commandments, but then he fell in love with Elizabeth and decided to quit being their leader. Meliodas' power increased by several folds towards the end of the series.
Merlin's interests lie in understanding all types of magic, and her interest in Escanor extends only that far. She does care for him, but more so as a fellow sin than anything else.
When Escanor was dying, Merlin kissed him before he died. So, Merlin did reciprocate his feelings in the end, but he ended up dying, so they unfortunately end up together.
Does Merlin become a villain?
Merlin (マーリン), also known as the Daughter of Belialuin and the Boar Sin of Gluttony, is the central antagonist of the anime/manga/light novel series The Seven Deadly Sins and the overarching antagonist of its sequel Four Knights of the Apocalypse.

1 Meliodas
Meliodas is the captain of the Seven Deadly Sins, and easily the strongest member of the crew. He is the main protagonist of the series.
Like Tom Marvolo Riddle (aka Voldemort), Merlin was a Slytherin, an ambitious, powerful wizard. He was a wizarding legend, and, of course, more powerful than the Dark Lord. According to the Harry Potter Wiki, Merlin was “arguably one of the most powerful wizards of all time”.

Escanor is in love with Merlin, having fallen in love with her at first sight. This loves stems from her being the first person to not only not be afraid of him or his power but to be actively intrigued by it.
Gaius, Kilgharrah, and Lancelot were the only main characters to know Merlin's secret and to be his long-time allies. Gaius is Merlin's mentor and main confidant.
Although Arthur did eventually find out in the show's last episode, he could have easily found out earlier if some of these characters decided to expose the wizard.
As a result of the destruction of his kingdom and seeing the pointless death that the other races and their gods have left in their wake for purely selfish and prejudiced reasons, along with the newfound power of Chaos at his control, these have all taken a great impact on him and how he views the world.

Like Freya, the Lady of the Lake was Merlin's lover and provided a sword for Arthur in his time of need. (However, in most tellings the romance between her and Merlin was a one-sided affair wherein Merlin was in love with her.
The two are eventually married in the season 4 finale and season 5 explores their more matured relationship as husband and wife, as well as King and Queen.
He bends down over Arthur's hand, and he's kissing it softly, pouring all his love and longing into the tender touch of his lips; and then Arthur mumbles a little, sleepy, and Merlin's heart nearly stops. He jolts back, breathing fast, heat flushing his cheeks and face.
The weakest of the 10 Commandments, Fraudrin was the commandment of Selflessness. Occupying the body of the Holy Knight Dreyfus, Fraudrin would replace Gowther. Fraudrin's commandment caused selfish people to lose their sense of self, including their memories and feelings.
The Seven Deadly Sins are ranked weakest to strongest based on their current standings in the manga. The weakest sin is Sloth, followed by Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Wrath, Envy and Pride as the strongest.
Despite his foresight, Merlin falls in love with the Viviane and makes her swear that she will give him her love along with the permission to do whatever he wants to her whenever he wants to do it in exchange for teaching her any magic she might like to know.

Gluttony is defined as intemperate eating. The Catholic Church considers it the fifth of the seven cardinal sins. In the Middle Ages, theologians and moralists condemned it and advocated moderation. The pleasures of eating were safe within the bounds of codified, convivial meals.
